Welcome! We're so glad you're here!

Let’s take the awkward out of the equation. Walking into a new environment for the first time can be intimidating. But it’s easy here, we promise. You can expect to see a lot of little kids, young families, middle age and retired folks. You might see a suit, but jeans and very casual dress will dominate. We’re pretty relaxed about our attire around here. Feel free to walk right into the auditorium and grab a seat with your family, or you can check your children into our controlled and secure children’s wing or nursery.

Greeters (Green Lanyards) and Guest Services (Red Lanyards) will help you find whatever you need. If you see Orange lanyards those folks have had screening and background checks and are the only adults authorized to be in our Kid’s areas, so rest easy. The little ones are safe. Grey lanyards are church staff.

Our congregation is as diverse as the population of the Northern Neck. You'll find that we are multi-ethnic; we come in all colors, shapes and sizes. We wear jeans and T-shirts, suits and ties, and everything in between. You’ll see flat-tops, high-and- tight, long hair, short hair, and no hair! You’ll see that some of us are inked (even the Associate Minister) and some of us are too afraid of needles for tats. Our blend of people has earned us the dubious nickname in the area as "The Church of the Misfits," and that's fine with us! We're just happy to serve a God who has a place where even misfits fit in.

Get to know us after the early service and before the second service between 10:15 and 10:45 AM in Coffee Corner over a cup o’ Joe and a fresh pastry. The one thing we don’t have is any perfect people. Some of us are misfits, but all of us are messed up, because all of us are human. We won’t make you introduce yourself or be recognized or

anything, so check us out. No intimidation required.

Worship

Let's Gather Together in Praise!

Authentic Worship

This one's a little complicated. The short answer is, it's different every Sunday. The first Sunday "Crimson Thread" (contemporary team) leads worship. The Second Sunday of the month, "One Day Remains" leads worship with guitar, drums and bass. Third Sunday is a bluegrass style praise team. Fourth Sunday worship is led by our longest-serving team, "TPB" (contemporary). When there's a fifth Sunday in the month, you never know what you might get! Sounds mixed up? That's us. The music is always Christ-centered and Spirit-lifting. We hope it'ss put a smile on your face, but it's more important to us that it puts a smile on God's face.

Communion

In the first church, they took communion every Sunday at least. Trying to be like that early church, we take communion every Sunday. Our communion is open, that is, we don't restrict who can take the bread and the cup. If you're a Christian, you are welcome to join in. We suggest that children take it only after they have made a personal commitment to Christ. We teach our kids that it's special and that it's for those who can really understand the meaning. Either way, its the Lord's table, not ours.
