If you’re planning on visiting our church, we want you to know that our nurseries are a top priority here at Rappahannock. We do not see the nursery as just a babysitting setting. It is our mission to start teaching our children to stand on the rock solid foundation of Jesus from the very beginning of their lives. A couple of ways we train our children about Jesus is by showing them awesome love of Jesus and by giving our very best to our nursery program. We are dedicated to staffing the nurseries with quality volunteers and implementing measures to ensure our children are safe and well taken care of.

Because of the growth we’ve enjoyed here at Rappahannock, we now provide two nurseries. Upon entering the building through the main entrance, you’ll find yourself in our main foyer. If you go into our fellowship hall from the foyer our Infant Nursery, children aged birth through 24 months, will be to your left. If you go right in our fellowship hall you will find our Toddler Nursery, children aged 2-3, adjacent to our Coffee Corner.

We acknowledge that a safe, exceptional nursery is a continuous job. In our pursuit of excellence, here are some of the current changes we’ve added to our nurseries:

  • Every time we offer childcare there will be two people staffing the nursery. You won’t have to worry that your child will be wearing a dirty diaper the whole time or being neglected because one person is swamped by too many children.
  • We hand out security pagers for each child. No you aren’t waiting for a table. But, you can be contacted if your child is crying to the point of being sick, if they’re injured, or even if they are being unruly. Your child is only a buzz away, so you won’t have to feel you are abandoning them. Also, a child is only allowed to be picked up by a person holding a pager. The worries of a stranger or someone unauthorized to pick up your child are shattered.
  • Along with our security pagers, there are also detailed sign in procedures. Your child’s belonging will be marked so they are easily accessible to workers if your child needs anything. By signing in, our nursery workers will be able to know who is present and who has been picked up. Also, any special instructions for children can be given when they are signed into the nursery.

To read about other procedures in our nurseries, please feel free to take a moment to browse or print our Nursery Workers Manual.
