Kent Childers, Youth Minister PDF Print E-mail

staffkentKent Childers is our newest staff member. He began serving at Rappahannock Church of Christ in August 2008.

He was born and raised in Corbin, Kentucky. He met his wife, Lori, while he was attending Kentucky Christian College. Upon graduation from KCC, Kent began his ministry as a preaching minister in London, Kentucky.

And although he enjoyed his ministry and was close to his hometown, he always had an interest in youth ministry and knew he would regret it if he didn't give youth ministry a chance. This led him to Morrison City Christian Church in Kingsport, TN, where he served as youth minister from 1992 to 1995. While there, he also attended graduate school at Emmanuel School of Religion in Johnson City, TN.Kent Childers Riding a Horse

After completing his degree at Emmanuel, Kent moved to Mechanicsville, VA, where he served as youth minister at Mechanicsville Church of Christ for 13 years. While there, he organized MCC’s first youth mission trips, developed youth praise teams, and and worked closely with youth ministers in the Richmond area and the State of Virginia in planning conventions, lock-ins, service projects, and camps.

Kent enjoys d-groups, teaching, mission trips, service projects, and object lessons that may be combustible. He has tried several musical instruments, but usually can be seen (and heard) playing drums loudly. When there is spare time, Kent and Lori love to kayak the waters of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 2:5.
